Note: Dr. Joe and Stephanie in 2018 revisited the Kapaa Chiropractic Clinic and Vertebral Subluxation Research Center (now the Kauai Beach House and Hostel) where they met and worked in 1980.

It all started when…

As a young child, my parents took me periodically to a chiropractor . I had issues with ear infections. I have two uncles that were chiropractors. I remember most profoundly when I was in 6th grade, I was starting quarterback for our 6th, 7th, and 8th- grade teams. I remember trying to keep up with the 8th graders. I would stick my head down and ram people with my helmet, running through the line. I started getting bad headaches. My father took me to my Uncle Rex who adjusted my neck and the headache disappeared immediately! Wow, that amazed me! So throughout high school in the 1970s, I kept matching the chiropractic philosophy of natural healing with the “back to nature” and “natural living” movement. For me, it made perfect sense. The body is a self-healing, self-regulating organism that was meant to be healthy and active, naturally. I took college courses to satisfy the requirements to get into chiropractic college. I started at Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon and then transferred to Life Chiropractic College outside of Atlanta, Georgia, where I graduated in 1981. I practiced for 3 years in Atlanta. We had our first child and knew we wanted a more rural setting to raise her. So we began looking for such a place. We found that in Woodstock, Virginia. We have been here since 1985, raised 3 beautiful children and have been a part of 4 generations of families in the wonderful Shenandoah Valley. Life is good when you live in harmony with nature.

We believe that your quality of life is important, which means a healthy spine.

We want to make sure, you get the care you need, to do the things you love.
